As a documentary filmmaker, you get to work with some fascinating people. It’s always an interesting and rewarding experience getting to know your subject, and that can certainly be said for my experience with Myron Sugerman.
I had the opportunity to work with Myron on a documentary about his life as “the last Jewish gangster.” Myron is an incredible storyteller and historian of the Jewish mob. He grew up in Newark, NJ, as the son of a prominent and respected gangster, Bernard Sugerman.
We filmed with Myron on and off for about 6 months, and I spent a few days at his house just scanning photos from the huge collection of photos that line his hallway floor to ceiling.
The film can be streamed on Amazon.
